Welcome
to the Dinmore Manor (2007) Fund website
We are:
Part of
the Dinmore Manor Group, comprising Dinmore Manor Locomotive Ltd, which
owns our engines, and Dinmore Manor (2007) Fund, which arranges
volunteer support activities, raises funds for our projects and is
currently seeking new members who wish to subscribe to our
part-ownership scheme.
We had
our origins in 1983/4 in two groups set up to support the West Somerset
Railway (WSR) by providing steam motive power for use on the line.
Since
1995, when our first restoration was completed, our two GWR designed
steam locos have been in regular use on the 20 mile line between
Bishops Lydeard and Minehead. Both were in ex-Barry condition and we
have restored them to working order with a combination of our own
volunteer labour and contract work. The funds needed to do this were
raised from our own members subscriptions and from our hire earnings.
All our own input, whether administrative or practical, is done on a
voluntary basis and all money raised is applied to the purchase,
restoration and overhaul of engines and the facilities required for
this. To learn more about us and our "New Horizons" appeal please click here to continue to the next page.
If you have all ready read all about us elsewhere and wish to join us then please click here
Currently, our two engines are GWR 2-8-0 No 3850 and BR(WR) 4-6-0
No.7820 ‘Dinmore Manor’. For further information, and
